Refund policy

CANCELLING OR MODIFYING AN ORDER

if your order has not yet shipped, you may request a cancellation or modification. For cancellation inquiries, Please contact us through our Contact page with the line “[Order Cancellation]” in the message and include your order number (PL-----) along with the product(s) you would like to cancel.

RETURN POLICY

We do not accept returns or exchanges, except in cases of:

  • Products damaged during shipping
  • Defective items
  • Incorrect items shipped

If you experience any of the above issues, please contact us through the Contact page with the line “[RETURN]” in the message within 7 days of receiving your order. Please be sure to provide your order number (PL-----), the product(s) you wish to return, and the reason for your return. If applicable, we may also request photos of the damaged product(s) and/or the shipping package to help us process your request.

Please prepare the following:

  • Photos of all damaged items along with their packaging
  • Photos showing the damaged inner and outer cartons
  • A photo of the shipping documents included with your package


If the item has been dropped, stolen, spilled, mistreated, etc., we cannot refund or accept a return.

Only the items specified in the original return request and confirmed by The House of Umami will be refunded. Return shipping is at the expense of the customer in the event your products are to be returned to us. Extra products included in the return package unconfirmed in the return request, especially if from an order outside the return window, will not be refunded.

Only the retail value plus tax paid by the customer will be refunded at the time of return. Sale items are not eligible for refund, unless the item is damaged upon arrival.

Shipping fees are not eligible for refund.

After your return is received and inspected, your refund will be processed and a credit will be automatically applied to your credit card or original method of payment. Please note that depending on your credit card company, it may take an additional 5-10 business days for the credit to post back to your account. You will be notified via e-mail once your refund has been processed. Finally, any refused shipments, shipments that are non-deliverable, or products that are returned for any reason other than our error will be refunded less the amount of shipping costs.
